Over 200 attendees

The biggest Game Dev Hangout yet

KUALA LUMPUR, 19th MARCH 2018 – Gameka, a Malaysian game development company, co-hosted the Game Dev Hangout KL 2018 March on Friday on the 16th of March 2018, at their Bangsar South office, which saw the largest attendance in the history of the event with over 200 attendees.

Game Dev Hangout is an event hosted by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Malaysia, as the place for local developers, students and video game enthusiasts to come together to showcase and talk about games.

The event was a resounding success. “It’s enjoyable to see game developers coming together to show their games and gain valuable feedback,” said Davendra, an IGDA volunteer. “It’s also an experience for people outside the industry to discover what game development is all about.”

As with the previous Hangouts, there was a great lineup of public game showcases, including Gameka’s very own Kluno: Hero Battle, NETTWORTH and Reactor Commander. NETTWORTH in particular attracted a lot of attention due to the news of a global USD10,000 cash prize competition, which will accompany the game’s launch in August 2018.

The attendees also crowded around Weyrdworks’ War Pods and Nightmorning’s History Inc. There was also a surprise board game showcase from the Centlus Board Game Exchange, which attracted a large crowd of board gamers.

With the astounding success of this edition of the Game Dev Hangout, it is clear that the local video games industry has a bright future ahead of it, thanks to the passion and enthusiasm of the Malaysian talents.
